Former

Pakistan  Prime Minister

Imran Khan

escaped contempt proceedings on Monday.

In fact, a court here withdrew the show cause notice issued to her in a case related to threatening a woman judge.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

(PTI) party chief Khan (69) appeared before the Islamabad High Court on Monday, where the matter was heard by a larger five-judge bench.

The bench was headed by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Athar Minalla.

Other members of the bench included Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Miyangul Hasan Aurangzeb, Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri and Babar Sattar.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Minalla said that the bench was satisfied with Khan's apology and conduct, the Express Tribune newspaper reported.

Khan had threatened to register cases against top police officials, the Election Commission and political opponents during a rally in Islamabad on August 20 for the treatment meted out to his colleague Shehbaz Gill.

Gill was arrested on sedition charges.

He had said about Additional Sessions Judge Jeba Choudhary, who granted two days custody of Gill, that he (the judge) should prepare himself as action would be taken against him.

Hours after his speech, a case was registered against Khan.

A case was registered against him for threatening the police, judiciary and other government institutions at the rally.

Last month, Khan had tendered an apology before the high court for his controversial remarks against the woman judge and promised that he would not do so again in future.

Khan, in an affidavit filed before the court two days ago, assured the court that he would never do anything in future to hurt the dignity of the court and the judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.

Khan had also appeared before the trial court in Islamabad three days ago to personally apologize to Judge Chaudhry, though the judge was not present at the time.
