[Reporter Lin Liangsheng/Taipei Report] Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun met with members of the German Congress Friends of Taiwan Group today (3). Regarding the delegation's concern about the Kuomintang's views on US House of Representatives Speaker Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, Zhu Lilun said that the visit of foreign friends is the norm in democracy. The CCP military exercise to encircle Taiwan overreacted.

He stressed that Beijing should understand that tough military exercises against Taiwan will only have the opposite effect and will not help promote cross-strait peace.

Zhu Lilun met with the German Congress Friends of Taiwan Group at the Central Party Headquarters of the Kuomintang this afternoon.

The delegation was led by Klaus-Peter Willsch, chairman of the German Parliamentary Group for Friends of Taiwan, to visit Taiwan.

The Kuomintang pointed out that during the meeting, the two sides conducted full exchanges and interactions on topics such as cross-strait relations, energy policy, and housing policy.

In the evening of the same day, Zhu also personally attended the "German Reunification Day Celebration Gala" held by the German Association in Taiwan to express his congratulations and blessings.

In response to the concern of the delegation from the German Parliamentary Friends-Taiwan Group on cross-strait issues, Zhu Lilun emphasized that the Kuomintang created the Republic of China, committed to defending the Republic of China, and adopted a 2D strategy of "defence" and "dialogue" in parallel to maintain the To communicate and consolidate national defense capabilities to defend the value of democracy and freedom in our country, three representatives including Huang Jiezheng, director of the International Affairs Department of the Kuomintang and representative to the United States, will also attend the US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference in the United States in the near future.

Zhu Lilun also mentioned that the cross-strait economic and trade relations are very close, and my country should not give up any opportunity to communicate with the other side.

The mainland accounts for nearly 42% of my country's trade ratio. The Kuomintang is a political party that attaches great importance to economic development. Faced with such a high degree of economic and trade dependence and the tense international situation, our country strives for more time to diversify economic and trade risks.

A few days ago, Xia Liyan, vice chairman of the Kuomintang, went to the mainland to visit Taiwan compatriots and communicate with the other side, which is to practice the policy direction of the Kuomintang, and to take up the responsibility of caring for the people of our country and being a responsible opposition party.

The delegation from the German Congress Friends of Taiwan Group is also concerned about the Kuomintang's views on Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

Zhu Lilun emphasized that during the period of the Kuomintang ruling, delegations of congressmen from various countries often came to Taiwan for exchanges and visits, including the then Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Kim Richie. Visits by foreign friends are the norm in democracy, and the mainland military exercise to encircle Taiwan is an overreaction.

Zhu Lilun said that Beijing should understand that tough military exercises against Taiwan will only have the opposite effect, hurt the feelings between people on both sides of the strait, and will not help promote peace and stability across the strait.

The Kuomintang believes that the two sides of the strait must have dialogue with each other, and calls on the ruling party to maintain smooth communication channels with the mainland.

The two parties also exchanged views on global climate change, energy policy and housing policy.

Zhu Lilun mentioned that my country should be committed to reducing petrochemical energy to meet the challenges of climate change, but the DPP government only advocates the 2025 non-nuclear homeland goal, but has no supporting measures, making the country into a power shortage crisis and affecting economic development.

Regarding the issue of housing policy, Zhu Lilun said that Europe generally seeks to solve the problem of high housing prices by building social housing. However, due to differences in public sentiment, a relatively high proportion of Chinese people prefer their own housing. Therefore, in addition to social housing policies, my country should also strengthen Infrastructure construction such as transportation, education and life, taking into account the overall development of the city, in order to provide a better living environment for citizens.
