On October 2, 2022, a bilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia was held in Geneva.

According to the information given to APA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was held in Brussels on August 31, 2022 between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan with the participation of the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel. was organized in accordance with the task given.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that it is important to focus efforts on the regulation of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the signing of a peace treaty in the post-conflict period.

In this regard, the minister brought the elements of the agreement to the attention of the Armenian side in detail based on the five basic principles proposed by us.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan proposed to hold the next meeting of the bilateral commission on delimitation in October, not in November of the current year, as previously agreed, taking into account the tension on the delimited border.

In accordance with the tripartite declarations signed by Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia and the agreements reached between the leaders, the complete withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, the opening of transport and communication lines in a short time based on the preliminary agreements reached within the framework of the tripartite commission under the leadership of the deputy prime ministers , stressed the need to make progress in the work on delimitation.

Touching on humanitarian issues, the minister emphasized the importance of clarifying the fate of nearly 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis, the inadmissibility of the Armenian side's continued placement of mines on the territory of Azerbaijan, which caused numerous tragic losses, and that this is a gross violation of Armenia's obligations under the Trilateral Declaration and a war crime.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again expressed that Azerbaijan is committed to ensuring peace and stability in the region and is ready to sign a peace treaty.

It was agreed to continue discussions in this direction.
