The Bhagwant Mann-led government won the trust vote in the Punjab Assembly on Monday.

Earlier, while discussing the confidence motion, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over 'Operation Lotus' and accused it of toppling the six-month-old government.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann moved the confidence motion in the House on 27 September.

AAP MLA Sheetal Angural started the discussion on Monday.

As soon as the discussion started, Congress MLAs staged a walkout, demanding that the Speaker give them time to speak and raise issues during the Zero Hour.

Two BJP MLAs - Ashwani Sharma and Jangi Lal Mahajan - are boycotting the session.

He has accused the AAP government of violating the Constitution by bringing a motion of confidence in the assembly.

Angural said he has submitted all the details, including call recordings and mobile phone numbers, to the state vigilance bureau and also given a 'sting' which he did of those who claimed to have come to meet him at the behest of the BJP.

According to Angural, these three had offered him money and position under 'Operation Lotus'.

Angural claimed that those who met him in the sting can be heard saying that they will "arrange" a meeting with a BJP leader who will "finalize the deal".

Targeting the BJP, he said, 'They can adopt any tactic, but the team of Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal is honest.'

AAP MLA Dinesh Chadha took a dig at Congress and said, "We have seen what happened in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, the party whose MLAs changed the most, should have said that they support this confidence motion."

But Congress MLAs claim that there is no provision in the Constitution to bring a confidence motion.

Senior AAP MLA Baljinder Kaur also hit out at the BJP over "Operation Lotus" and alleged that the BJP thinks it can form government everywhere on the strength of "money power".

He said, “First in Delhi and now in Punjab, their operation has failed.

On Monday, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan had allotted two hours for the discussion on the confidence motion.
