The embassy noted that Ukrainians who are in Belarus without documents also have such an opportunity.

"If a citizen, even without passport documents, declares during the crossing of the Ukrainian border that he belongs to the citizenship of Ukraine, he will definitely be allowed into the country for the purpose of conducting the appropriate check," the embassy said.

In case of confirmation of Ukrainian citizenship, a person will be able to "move freely in Ukraine and apply for the necessary passport documents".

The same approach is maintained in relation to the residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk "people's republics", since "Ukraine does not recognize the so-called administrations of the temporarily occupied territories and the documents issued by them."

Ukrainian citizens from such territories located in Belarus "can apply to the consular department of the Embassy of Ukraine for the purpose of checking their citizenship."

The check is carried out "on the information bases available today".

If the identity and Ukrainian citizenship of the applicant are established, he will be issued with papers to return to Ukraine.

In the future, he will be able to issue a new Ukrainian passport.
