Rescuers and firefighters from Montana and police officers from the border police station in Chiprovtsi have today found a tourist who disappeared yesterday in Stara Planina under Mount Kopren, the spokesperson of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana Iren Tokina told BTA.

The missing person was reported at 6:00 p.m. last night after a 67-year-old man from Stara Zagora, who was staying in the Kopren hut and went to the peak of the same name yesterday, did not return to the hut, and the evening broke out in the mountain storm with thunder, strong wind and heavy rain.

The lodgers reported that the man did not pick up his phone, but went to Mount Kopren early in the morning alone.

Minutes later, police and rescuers began a search that lasted until late in the evening, but was called off due to the storm and darkness.

Early this morning the search was resumed and the tourist was found about three kilometers from the lodge.

He had wounds on his hands from the fall, but is in good general condition.

He was taken to hospital and his life is out of danger, announced Tokina.
