Poland built a 187-kilometer wall on the border with Belarus.

The height of the built wall is 5.5 m. The fence is made of steel panels 4.5 m high with barbed wire.

This was announced by Stanislav Zharyn, the commissioner of the Polish government for the security of the information space, on Twitter.

Polska has completed the construction of a protective barrier on the border with Białorusia.

The wall has special passages for animals.

Similar ones are created during the construction of highways.

Border rivers and watercourses are not blocked.

In these areas, other systems of border protection have been applied, which will allow wild animals to cross it freely.

Currently, electronic means of border protection are installed on the wall: motion sensors and cameras.

According to Polsat News, the total cost of building and installing the system is more than 1.5 billion zlotys ($350 million).

What preceded?

In October 2021, the Polish parliament allowed the deportation of

illegal migrants

who illegally cross the border, and also decided to build a fence on the border with Belarus.

Such decisions were made by Polish deputies against the background of the migration crisis caused by the influx of illegal migrants from Belarus.

In response to the EU sanctions, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, said that he would stop restricting the movement of migrants through his country.

The first to face the problem of migrants was Lithuania, which introduced a state of emergency, and later the situation worsened in Poland as well.

The Polish authorities even decided to introduce a state of emergency in the border regions, but this did not stop the influx of illegal migrants.

Poland is not the only one that decided to build a wall on the border with Belarus: Lithuania and Latvia announced the same.

Belarus, for its part, accused EU countries of "illegal behavior" with migrants and refugees and of violating its own principles.
