Yermak emphasized that the Kyiv Security Treaty is aimed at providing practical assistance in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

It is, in particular, about weapons and decisive sanctions against the aggressor country Russia.

This is stated on the website of the Office of the President.

Yermak emphasized that today the civilized world must demonstrate determination and make it clear to the Russian Federation that it will not get away with either an attempt at annexation or nuclear blackmail.

According to him, one of such decisive steps may be the conclusion of the Kyiv Security Treaty, recommendations for which were recently presented.

"This month, together with Anders Fogh Rasmussen, former Secretary General of NATO, I prepared a set of recommendations based on our consultations with an international group of experts. We called for the development of the Kyiv Security Treaty, a strategic partnership document that unites Ukraine and a number of guarantor states ", said the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

According to Yermak, the principle of operation of this agreement is simple: the security of Ukraine depends primarily on the ability to defend itself.

To do this effectively, Ukraine needs the long-term support of its allies.

The Kyiv Security Treaty is aimed at providing practical assistance in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

"Ukraine's core group of allies, with its significant military potential, could make a series of commitments that are politically and legally binding. In addition to these commitments, a wider group of international partners would offer a set of non-military sanctions-based guarantees." Yermak noted.

He emphasized: these recommendations do not replace Ukraine's desire to gain membership in NATO.

Security guarantees will protect our country until it joins the Alliance.

"The Kyiv Security Treaty will let Russia know that the price of its aggression will grow until it becomes too high for it to bear. Helping Ukraine to defend itself, survive and ultimately win is the best investment our allies can make to ensure a more secure future for of the whole world," concluded Andriy Yermak.

We will remind you that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, proposes to use the "Kyiv Security Treaty" for the period until the NATO countries reach a consensus on the admission of Ukraine to the Alliance.
