Mumbai:
There has been an allegation of making death threats against former minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal.
He has been accused of using the Dubai connection to threaten to kill him.
Chembur police has registered an FIR under 506 (2) on the complaint of social activist Lalit Kumar Tekchandani.
According to the complaint, Lalit Kumar had posted two videos on Chhagan Bhujbal's mobile number in which Chhagan Bhujbal insulted Hinduism.
After that, calls started coming from different numbers threatening to kill Lalit Kumar.
He was threatened that "Bhujbal sends a message to sahib, telling Dubai people to shoot you." The FIR was registered on 30 September.
It is worth noting that senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal had questioned the government two days ago on the presence of the idol of Goddess Saraswati in Maharashtra schools.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had reacted sharply to the matter, saying since Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, the idols will not be removed.
Earlier this week, during an event in Mumbai, Bhujbal had said that statues of Savitri Phule, Jyotiba Phule, Shahu Maharaj, Bhaurao Patil and Bhimrao Ambedkar should be installed in schools.
He had said, “Instead of these social reformers, idols of Goddess Saraswati and Sharda are installed in schools.
We have not seen them and they have not taught us anything.
Why should we pray before them?"
Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis took a strong stand in this matter and said that Saraswati idols will not be removed from schools.
Chief Minister Shinde had told reporters in Nashik, home of prominent OBC leader Bhujbal, on Wednesday that, "No idol will be removed.
Some people (Bhujbal) can feel whatever they want.
We will not work according to their wishes.
We will do what the common people want."
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis had said that idols of social reformers would also be installed in schools, but the idols of Saraswati would not be removed.
He said, “Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge.
Those who do not believe in our culture and Hindutva make such comments."
