Two months ago, together with the then Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, we celebrated the completion of the construction of the Interconnector.

This is a bridge that connects Bulgaria and Greece.

This dramatically changed the gas map of Europe.

This was noted by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Kyriakos Mitsotakis - Greek economist and politician. Mitsotakis was born in Athens on March 4, 1968, during the opening of the gas connection between Bulgaria and Greece.

This is an extremely important moment not only for Eastern Europe, but also for Europe more broadly.

These pipelines will enhance security of supply.

This is a combination of cooperation between our governments in recent years.

We are all aware of the broad geopolitical meaning of this event.

Azeri gas supplies to Bulgaria will break Russia's grip on natural gas to Europe.

All the projects that are going on will help to secure the gas network.

Today we see that we can confirm the success.

Greece is playing an increasingly active role in the regional energy hub, Mitsotakis pointed out.

ICGB Executive Directors: We are marking a new stage in the development of energy

According to him, the opening of the Interconnector is a concrete expression of confidence that we can cope with the challenges of the future.

And he added that Europe together managed to deal with the Covid crisis, so it will also overcome the energy crisis.

We are sure that European solidarity will be placed above the national interest, concluded Mitsotakis.
