The Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev

Alexander Pulev was born on February 5, 1981 in Plovdiv.

He has a master's degree in finance from Oxford attended the official opening of the interconnector for the gas connection between Bulgaria and Greece, which was hosted by President Rumen Radev, the ministry announced.

The event was attended by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski, the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Chuka , Prime Minister Galab Donev, as well as the executive directors of "ICGB" AD Teodora Georgieva and George Satlas.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, the interconnector received Act 16 and from today it is put into operation.

We remind you that on 21.12.2018 the Managing Authority of the Operational Program "Innovations and Competitiveness" 2014-2020 /OPIK/ and the company "ICGB" JSC signed a contract for the provision of financial assistance for the project "Construction of an intersystem gas connection Greece-Bulgaria", with the granted grants under the OPIC amounting to BGN 76.2 million, and the total value of the project being BGN 559.2 million. The General Directorate of "European Competitiveness Funds" is the Governing Body of the OPIC and is with the specialized administration of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth.

With its implementation, the construction of an infrastructure for the transfer of natural gas from the Southern Gas Corridor is ensured and the security of gas supplies to Bulgaria is ensured by increasing the transit capacity to the countries of South-Eastern Europe.

In this way, diversification of imported gas is ensured through additional sources of supply from the Caspian region, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Through the contract, the main strategic priorities of the Bulgarian energy policy are implemented - guaranteeing energy security, diversification of sources and routes, energy efficiency, a liberalized energy market and protection of consumer rights.
