At least 27 people have died in the US from

Hurricane Ian.

The authorities warn that the number of victims of natural disasters may increase.

This is reported by Sky news.

"At least 27 people in the US have died as a result of Hurricane Ian, and officials warn that the death toll will rise," the statement said.

Several victims drowned, including a 68-year-old woman who was swept into the ocean by a wave.

Other victims include a 22-year-old girl who died from her injuries after her SUV overturned on a washed-out stretch of road.

And also a 71-year-old man who died of head injuries after falling from the roof while installing blinds.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said rescue crews went to more than 3,000 homes in the hardest-hit areas, searching for survivors and trying to rescue thousands of people trapped in flooded buildings.

A Weather Channel meteorologist said he had not seen anything like today in 30 years.

Due to bad weather, more than 2 million people were left without electricity.

The Fox News channel noted that Hurricane Ian is comparable to the strongest storm ever to hit the west coast of Florida.

Wind gusts are similar to those recorded during Hurricane Charley in 2004.

It will be recalled that

a powerful storm and hurricane-force wind, which came from the northern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, caused trouble in the southern provinces of Austria.
