The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed Guinea from the position of organizing the finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and that the contract will be opened on Saturday for member countries to participate.

The decisions have come following a meeting on Friday in Conakry between the country's interim president Mamady Doumbouya and Honcho of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe.

"The Executive Committee agreed that Guinea will not be ready to host the tournament," CAF said in its statement.

The continental council said that the equipment of the West African nation failed to reach the minimum level.

"The Executive Committee took a unanimous decision based on the report submitted that the tournament has been withdrawn from Guinea," the statement said in part.

"The Executive Committee decided to send a message to Guinea to inform them about CAF's decision to cancel the Africa Cup of Nations, Guinea 2025."

"I visited Guinea in honor of the people of Guinea to discuss CAF's readiness to advise and work with football stakeholders to build and build football infrastructure and equipment in this country, considering CAF's decision not to continue with AFCON 2025 in Guinea ,” Motsepe said in his statement.

Motsepe was accompanied to the meeting by CAF Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The military leader has been leading Guinea since September 2021, when Colonel Mamady Doumbouya declared himself interim president.

CAF announced that bidding for the tournament will reopen on Saturday.
