New Delhi:

A major road accident took place in Kanpur Outer of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

According to the police, a tractor-trolley full of devotees is reported to have fallen into the pond.

So far 22 people have been killed in this accident, including 11 women and 11 children.

Relief and rescue operations are in full swing on the spot.

Rescue team members are searching for other missing people.

In the preliminary investigation of the police, it has been found that devotees of Kortha village of Sadh police station area had gone to Chandrika Devi temple in Fatehpur by tractor-trolley.

There were about 40 people in the trolley while returning after having darshan.

The trolley overturned in the roadside pond between Sadh and Gambhirpur village.

In this tweet, PM Modi said that regarding this incident, my condolences are with the families of the deceased.

I wish the people injured in the incident a speedy recovery.

The local administration is providing all possible help to the injured with immediate effect.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the tractor-trolley accident in Kanpur and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
