An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was registered in Indonesia, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported, quoted by BTA.

The tremor occurred at 2:28 a.m. local time.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 37 kilometers north of the city of Sibolga in West Sumatra.  

A number of aftershocks with a magnitude of up to 5 followed.

So far, there is no information about injured people or damage.

No tsunami warning has been issued.
