The district court in Yambol permanently remanded the 44-year-old driver Ahmed Aivazov, who in a drunken state hit and killed the 30-year-old police officer Gennady Troev near Straldzha on September 26, according to the press center of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Burgas.

The driver was caught with more than 1.2 percent of alcohol.

He had previous offenses on the road, and his driver's license was revoked some time ago.

During the accident, his car left the roadway on a straight section and hit the policeman.

At that moment, the law enforcement officer was checking the documents of an illegal immigrant walking by the road.

The imposed remand measure "detention in custody" can be appealed before the Court of Appeal - Burgas, added the state prosecution.
