It is my great pleasure to host the head of state of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev.

We reviewed the bilateral relations between our countries - challenges and opportunities.

This is what President Rumen Radev said

Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, major general from the reserve.

Former commander of a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Aliyev.

"The active dialogue at the highest and highest level in recent years has contributed to our relations rising to a strategic partnership.

Azerbaijan has established itself as a desirable, priority and reliable partner," said Radev.

"The visit of the President of Azerbaijan has a double symbolism: it takes place in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, but the visit also covers an important date - tomorrow, when we open the gas connection between Greece and Bulgaria.

This connection will give us the opportunity for the first time to actually receive gas from Azerbaijan," he added.

"We have just discussed with the president a proposal that came to me yesterday, signed by four gas operators of four European countries - Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, which offer to transit the additional quantities of gas that Mr. Aliyev signed as a memorandum together with Ursula von Der Leyen in Baku," informed Radev.

He explained that what is being proposed is a new approach that will allow investing significant funds to expand the gas infrastructure, to immediately transfer additional quantities of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe using the integrated gas networks of these four countries.

"If we have the vision of all these countries, we are ready within a month to organize a high-level meeting to launch this project," he added.

"In conditions of interrupted supplies, high prices, we are looking for new opportunities, innovative solutions.

We discussed with President Aliyev the possibility of some of our big industrial consumers of gas in the field of artificial fertilizers, cement, glass - the same is produced by Azerbaijan - to get gas directly from Azerbaijan, and then go to the markets together and share the profit.

This will also relieve Bulgargaz," he added.

The possibilities for cooperation in a number of fields were also discussed - information technology and robotics, artificial intelligence, the production of green hydrogen, components for the automotive industry.
