Today is the last day for filing nominations for the post of Congress President.

After Ashok Gehlot's exit from the race, now the discussion of many more names has intensified.

Sources have indicated that Congress MP Manish Tewari may be the second member of the party's "G-23" group after Shashi Tharoor to participate in this election.

G-23 leaders Prithviraj Chavan, Bhupinder Hooda and Manish Tewari held a meeting yesterday at Anand Sharma's residence after the withdrawal of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from the electoral fray and entry of Digvijay Singh on Thursday.

He is understood to have discussed the current situation.

Sources said that a decision on whether Manish Tewari, who wants to contest the election, should contest the election or not, will be taken today i.e. Friday morning.

Shashi Tharoor, who was part of G-23, will file his nomination papers for the party's top post on Friday.

Tiwari said that no one has filed nomination so far and things will be clear only after Friday.

He said the G-23 group met yesterday to deliberate and discuss the situation.


Prithviraj Chavan, who attended the meeting, also said that it is good that internal elections are being held democratically.

He thanked Congress President Sonia Gandhi for free and fair elections.
