250 kg of contraband hookah tobacco were detained by the customs officers of the Kapitan Andreevo police station during an inspection of a truck entering the country.

On 28.09.2022, a tractor with a semi-trailer with Hungarian registration arrives at the checkpoint.

The driver - a Serbian citizen - presents to the customs officers regular documents for the transported goods - metal caps from Turkey to Hungary.

They seized over 60 kilograms of hookah tobacco without a banderol

The vehicle has been selected for a thorough customs inspection, including an X-ray.

During the subsequent physical control, 33 cartons containing various packages of hookah tobacco were found among the declared goods in the cargo area.

The total quantity of the undeclared excise goods is 250 kg worth BGN 90,000. 

In this case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigative customs inspector under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.

The driver N.P., 32 years old, was charged under Art.

242, paragraph 1, paragraph D of the Criminal Code, for transporting goods across the country's border without the knowledge and permission of customs for commercial or production purposes in large quantities.
