NATO Secretary

General

Jens Stoltenberg would like Ukraine to join the Alliance, but decisions will be made by the member states.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated this on the air of the telethon.

"The decision is made by consensus. The next step: all NATO member states must issue an invitation to Ukraine to join the Alliance. Until this consensus is built, of course, the NATO Secretary General cannot say what he thinks. But having some experience in communication and interaction with Mr. Stoltenberg, I am convinced that he just thinks that Ukraine should be a member of NATO and he is ready to work on it. But he will work on it when there is a consensus corresponding decision of the Alliance members," Kuleba said.

The minister also added that a diplomatic mission to NATO member countries for negotiations on Ukraine's accession will begin soon.

"Actually, I want to draw attention to the fact that today all EU member states, including Hungary, condemned the so-called referendums and the attempt to annex Ukrainian territories, and confirmed that they will continue to support Ukraine. But as for the advocacy campaign. Of course, the president has already set such a task to all members of his diplomatic team, and the machine that worked to support Ukraine's application for EU membership will be deployed, we will conduct advocacy, communicate, I will speak with the relevant countries, with the Secretary General of NATO. We understand where there will be problems and where there will be maximum support , and we will solve these problems," he added.

We will remind you that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that on September 30, Ukraine

submitted an application

to join NATO under the accelerated procedure.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the doors of the Alliance

remain open

to any democratic country.
