According to documents filed in federal court in Manhattan, he hired three women to provide services for him around the country.

One of them gave birth to two children for him in the USA, the indictment claims, already after he was put on the sanctions lists.

As reported by the Reuters and AP agencies, in addition to Deripaska,

Olga Shryka, Natalya Bardakova

and

Ekaterina Varonina were indicted.

According to court documents, Voronina traveled to the United States in 2020 and 2022 to give birth to Deripaska.

Bardakova and Shrike were accused of organizing the trip.

According to the indictment, Deripaska spent hundreds of thousands of dollars so that his children would be born in the United States and take advantage of the benefits of the American medical system and the right to citizenship, which is automatically granted to them after birth.

In addition to organizing the trip, Shrike is accused of selling a music studio in California for Deripaska for $3.1 million in 2019.

She is the only one of the accused to be arrested.

Washington imposed sanctions against Deripaska in 2018, explaining its decision by the fact that the businessman engaged in "various malicious activities" around the globe, representing the interests of the Russian authorities.

In particular, it was stated that the oligarch owns assets and launders money in the interests of Russian President

Vladimir Putin.

In addition, the authorities suspected him of involvement in possible interference in the 2016 US presidential election.

Deripaska denied the previous accusations against him.

He appealed the introduction of restrictions in court.

In June 2021, the Federal District Court in the District of Columbia dismissed the lawsuit.

Deripaska did not comment on the new charges against himself at the time of publication of the news.

The indictment states that when one of the children was born, the defendants spelled Deripaska's last name incorrectly in order to hide his paternity.

Forbes magazine estimated Deripaska's wealth at $1.7 billion in 2022.

At the same time, the entrepreneur himself estimated losses from the sanctions imposed against him at 7.5 billion.
