Nuclear weapons are capable of destroying everything within a radius of just a few kilometers.

Therefore, in fact, its use will not change the situation at the front.

But an attack on the civilian population will make Russia an exile in the whole world.

Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko told TSN.ua about this.

According to him, tactical nuclear weapons should be used by groups of troops.

But taking into account how the groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located today, the use of tactical nuclear weapons against them will not change the strategic situation in the combat zone.

"On average, we consider the situation with a kiloton. This is the destruction of almost everything living within a radius of 200-300 meters. This is the epicenter of the explosion. Everything outside this radius will also be destroyed in one way or another within a few kilometers - this is a high radiation background, burns and etc. The further from the epicenter, the smaller the damage and consequences. Conventionally, the radius of a fairly serious threat is from 3 to 5 kilometers. But this radius does not cover a large plain to globally solve the tactical task," Kovalenko said.

The expert took as an example the counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region.

There, more than 8,000 square kilometers of territory were liberated in just one and a half weeks.

"We take this radius of a tactical weapon to one kiloton where it will really have the greatest effect from its use and project it onto a surface of 8 thousand square kilometers. In what place could it be so critical to stop a counteroffensive? Especially if we know that small mobile tactical groups were operating. That is, to kill 50 or 100 troops, tactical nuclear weapons would be used?"

- says the expert.

Kovalenko also said that if Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons against civilian infrastructure and facilities, this country will find itself in a worse situation than the DPRK.

In particular, after a nuclear strike, Russia will not have any right even in the UN Security Council.
