[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] The latest survey released by the American polling agency "Pew" on the 28th showed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to usher in an unprecedented third term, but since he took power in 2013, the United States and other advanced countries have Perceptions of China quickly turned negative.

In the case of the United States, China's ineffective control of the new crown epidemic and its inability to stop the spread of the virus are the recent reasons for the rise in negative perceptions, the Pew report wrote.

But in fact, before the epidemic, China's image was constantly deteriorating due to many factors, and even neighboring South Korea, Japan and Australia had a bad impression of China.

South Korea’s dislike of China has soared since 2017, including for South Korea’s decision at the time to deploy the U.S. theater high-altitude defense missile (THAAD) and China’s threat of economic retaliation against South Korea.

From 2020 onwards, due to the new crown epidemic, the perception of China has continued to rise, reaching an all-time high of 80% in 2021.

After a period of tension in the bilateral relationship in early 2000, Japan maintained a broadly negative attitude toward China for the next 20 years, peaking at 93 percent in 2013 due to high tensions in the East China Sea.

Although it cooled down later, it also increased in 2020. In 2021, the degree of disgust reached 87%, and the degree of liking was only 12%.

On the Australian side, attitudes towards China are also affected by the new crown epidemic and trade frictions.

But in fact, since 2017, Australia's negative perception of China has been increasing.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organization warned at the time that China was trying to influence Australian domestic politics, prompting Australia to legislate to control the influence of foreign powers, leading to a deterioration in relations between the two countries.

In terms of other countries, the United States in 2021 likes China 16%; dislikes 82%; Canada likes China 21%, dislikes 74%; Germany likes China 20%, dislikes 74%; the United Kingdom likes China 27% like it, 69% dislike it.

The survey pointed out that foreign perceptions of Xi Jinping are similar to the overall trend of perceptions of China.

As of this year, only two of the advanced countries surveyed have confidence in Xi's handling of global affairs.

On the contrary, 40% or more of the respondents in most regions have no confidence in Xi.

Sweden, Japan and Australia are more than 50%.
