European countries are at risk of being without mobile communications this winter due to the energy crisis.

"APA-Economics" informs about this with reference to "Reuters".

"Cellphones could go out all over Europe this winter if power outages or blackouts affect parts of mobile networks in the region," the report said.

According to the agency, operators such as Nokia and Ericsson are working with governments to make sure they have a plan to secure critical services.

However, Europe, "accustomed to decades of uninterrupted power supply", does not have enough back-up systems to cope with massive power outages.

Liza Bellulo, president of the French Federation of Telecommunications Operators, told Reuters that countries in the region "could be a bit pampered in large parts of Europe where electricity is stable".

Paris in particular will not be able to supply all the country's antennas with new batteries because of insufficient investment.
