A purported audio of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has surfaced in which he talks about how to exploit the controversial 'cipher' to portray a conspiracy to topple his government in April.

In the audio clip that has surfaced on social media, a conversation is taking place between Imran Khan and his then Principal Secretary Azam Khan.

He is talking about a sign language 'cipher' sent by Pakistan's ambassador to Washington for a meeting with an American official.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Khan's government fell in April after losing a no-confidence motion in Parliament.

Khan had alleged that there was a US-led conspiracy to topple his government, citing the 'cipher' as he made independent foreign policy decisions on Russia, China and Afghanistan.

However, the US has denied this allegation.

In the leaked audio, Imran Khan can be heard saying, "We just have to play on this (cipher).

We don't need to name (of any country).

We just have to play with it, that the date (of the no-confidence motion) was (pre-decided)."

The second voice is apparently of Azam Khan who is advising to call a meeting on 'Cypher'.

He said, "Look, if you remember, the ambassador has written to (send) the objection letter at the end.

Even if the objection letter is not to be sent."

Azam Khan said, “Shah holds a meeting with Mehmood Qureshi (foreign minister in the government of Imran) and the foreign secretary.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi will read that letter and whatever he reads will be converted into a copy.

Then I will (from) prepare the minute (written statement) that the Foreign Secretary has prepared."

The former principal secretary said, “But this (of the cipher) should be analyzed.

We will analyze it and prepare the details as we want it to become an official record.”

He explains that the analysis will conclude that 'it is a threat.

This is called intimidation in diplomatic language.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party has not formally reacted to the audio leak, but when reporters asked Imran Khan what he meant by playing with 'cypher', he said, "I have started playing yet." not done.'

He said that the issue of 'cipher' should be properly investigated.
