New Delhi:

The Delhi Police is on high alert after the central government imposed a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) for five years.

In order to maintain law and order situation in the national capital, the police activity has intensified in different areas of Delhi.

Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) of various districts have also taken to the streets to take stock of the situation.

The North East district, where the riots took place in 2020, has a mixed population of communities.

Recently, five people associated with PFI were arrested by Delhi Police from this area.

Talking to news agency ANI, DCP Sanjay Kumar said, "We are on alert mode. We are ready to deal with any situation. North East district has been divided under Yellow, Orange and Red scheme. "

"On Wednesday, an exercise was conducted in the North East district to check the effectiveness of the Yellow Scheme, which is to deal with any emergency situation in the district," he said.

Under the Yellow Scheme, the team of ACP and SHO immediately reaches the place of disturbance as soon as the message is received.

At the same time, another reserve component of the force has been put on high alert.

The Vajra vehicle, water cannon and other resources also reach the target point immediately, the official said.

He told that, when the situation deteriorates in one police station area, then orange scheme is implemented in 3-4 police station areas.

The raid scheme becomes active when the entire district is affected.

According to Delhi Police, additional police forces will also be deployed in sensitive areas of the national capital so that immediate action can be taken in case of any untoward incident.

North West District DCP and DCPs of other districts patrolled in their respective jurisdictions.

Days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Enforcement Directorate and state agencies as well as police forces arrested over 100 PFI cadres in raids on locations belonging to PFI cadres across the country, the central government on Wednesday "immediately" has imposed sanctions against the organization and its affiliates.

The central government has directed all states and union territories (UTs) to "exercise" the powers of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the PFI organization and its affiliates.
