Shashi Tharoor and Digvijay Singh met

New Delhi:

Shashi Tharoor and Digvijay Singh met on Thursday amid the ruckus regarding the election for the post of Congress President.

Let us tell you that both the leaders have also declared themselves as contenders in the elections to be held for this post.

Important information related to the case:

  • Shashi Tharoor shared a photo from his meeting with Digvijay Singh on Thursday.

In the photo caption, he wrote that this election is not a fight between any two rivals but a friendly contest between two friends.

The aim of both of us is to win the Congress.

  • Digvijay Singh has also reacted to this tweet of Shashi Tharoor.

He said that our fight is against communal forces.

  • After the exit of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot from the race for the post of president, now Shashi Tharoor and Digvijay Singh are being considered as the main contenders for this post.

  • Shashi Tharoor and Digvijay Singh can fill their papers for the election of the President's post tomorrow (Friday).

  • Digvijay Singh, who has also been the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, is considered close to the Gandhi family.

  • At the same time, Shashi Tharoor is part of the G23 group of Congress, which wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi in 2020 asking for various reforms in the party.

  • Ashok Gehlot was considered out of the race for the post of president ever since the way Rajasthan Congress MLAs kept themselves away from the legislature party meeting called by the party on Sunday.

  • Rajasthan Congress MLAs, who kept distance from the legislature party meeting, had said that they do not want to see Sachin Pilot as the CM.

  • The MLA's demand was that the party high command should choose someone from the Gehlot camp as the next CM of Rajasthan.

  • However, during that time Gehlot repeatedly emphasized that he had nothing to do with the rebellion of the MLAs.

  • Received a visit from @digvijaya_28 this afternoon.

I welcome his candidacy for the Presidency of our Party.

We both agreed that ours is not a battle between rivals but a friendly contest among colleagues.

All we both want is that whoever prevails, @incIndia will win!🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/Df6QdzZoRH

I agree @ShashiTharoor we are fighting the Communal Forces in India.

Both believe in the Gandhian Nehruvian Ideology and shall fight them relentlessly come what may.

    Best wishes.
