Last night's storm in the capital caused serious damage to the building of the "Ivan Vazov" National Theater.

After the heavy rain, there are burst pipes, flooded lobbies and stages, theater director Vasil Vassilev told BNR.

"Several drainage pipes, which are located in the walls of the theater, burst and as a result, the chamber stage, the lobby of the theater were flooded. At the moment, we have formed a commission to assess the damage and more seriously in terms of numbers, values, I cannot tell you I say, what is it. We had to stop yesterday's performance "When Thunder Strikes" on a chamber stage and we kindly redirected the audience to the performance "Golemanov" on a large stage. We are working at the moment to make it sustainable," said Vassilev.

For the time being, the damage will be covered by the budget of the National Theater, whose building is a cultural monument.
