EU leaders called the past vote pseudo-referendums, noting that their announced results, according to which residents of four regions of Ukraine allegedly voted to join Russia, will never be recognized by EU countries.



It is proposed to include further restrictions on the import of Russian goods in the package of sanctions - the eighth since the beginning of large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine.

They should, according to calculations, deprive the Russian budget of at least 7 billion dollars of income.

According to the information of the correspondent of Radio Svaboda, we are talking, for example, about cigarettes, paper, cellulose.

Earlier, a number of mass media claimed that the conversation could be about rough diamonds, in particular, but they are not mentioned in the proposal of the European Commission.

It is also proposed to introduce new restrictions on imports into Russia, in particular of electronics and a number of chemicals.

It is also proposed to prohibit EU citizens from holding positions in the boards of directors of Russian state corporations.



In addition, it is proposed to create a legal mechanism for introducing a price ceiling for Russian oil.

The last measure did not find the support of the EC countries during the recent discussions.



The list of individuals and legal entities subject to sanctions is also expected to be expanded.

At the same time, according to the correspondent of Radio Svaboda, Hungary has again opposed the sanctions against Patriarch Kirill.



The proposal of the European Commission will now be discussed by the representatives of the 27 EU countries, a consensus is needed to approve the sanctions.



The United States has said that it will also soon announce new sanctions in connection with the so-called referendums.
