In Tirana, the capital of Albania, the European championship among taekwondo players under the age of 21 continues.

According to information provided by the Taekwondo Federation to apasport.az website, the second day of the competition was successful for the Azerbaijani national team.

Sayyad Dadashov (54 kg) was awarded the title of European champion in the team led by head coach Reza Mehmandost and senior coach Elnur Amanov.

After defeating Artyom Bulavka (Moldova) with a score of 2:0 in the first match, our taekwondo player also defeated Relja Ivkovic (Serbia) with the same score.

Dadashov won a convincing victory over Turkish Haktan Can in the 1/8 finals - 2:0.

Although the taekwondo player, who eliminated Tedi Likometi (Albania, 2:0) in the next match, had to fight with Ebrahim Marvan (Sweden) in the semi-finals, the opponent did not stop due to injury and Sayyad advanced to the finals.

The decisive battle was quite intense.

Dadashov won the gold medal of the European Championship after winning the match against Milan Milla from the Netherlands with a score of 2:1.

Eltaj Gafarov added another award to the assets of our team.

Our taekwondo player, competing in the weight class of 74 kg, successively defeated Ege Şaşmaztin (Turkey, 2:0), Jesus Serrano (Spain, 2:0) and Charai Flouskounisa (Greece, 2:1) and qualified for the semi-finals.

On the way to the final, Gafarov faced Serbian Stefan Takov.

Since the opponent won with a score of 2:0, our representative won the bronze medal.

Thus, the national team won a medal again at the European Championship after 5 years.

With Dadashov rising to the highest level of the honorary chair, the national anthem of Azerbaijan was played in the U-21 competition after 9 years.

It should be noted that the European Championship will be concluded on September 30.
