Former President of Moldova Ihor

Dodon

will remain under house arrest.

Such a decision was made by the Appeals Chamber of Chisinau, Newsmaker writes.

The Appeals Chamber rejected the request of Dodon's lawyers to change the preventive measure.

The judges also approved the prosecutors' request

to extend the detention for 30 days instead of 20

.

Dodon's relative, Petru Merinyanu, who is a suspect in the case against the former president, also remains under house arrest.

It will be recalled that

on May 24, the law enforcement officers took Dodon to the pre-trial detention center after he was detained in a case on suspicion of treason.

Prior to that, Dodon and his godfather searched the house, during which they found luxury items, funds in national and foreign currency, receipts, and documents subject to inspection.
