On September 28, the First Deputy Minister of Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel-General Karim Valiyev, who is on an official visit to Georgia, visited the command of the Defense Forces of this country.

According to the information provided to APA by the Ministry of Defense (MoD), an official welcoming ceremony was held first.

After Colonel-General K. Valiyev passed in front of the honor guard, the national anthems of both countries were played.

According to the protocol, the "Book of Honor" was signed.


Then Colonel General K. Valiyev met with the Commander of the Defense Forces of Georgia, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili.


During the meeting held in business conditions, the issues of ensuring peace and security in the region were discussed, as well as the current situation and development prospects of military cooperation between the two countries.

The parties also exchanged views on ensuring the security of regional economic projects, further expanding cooperation in military-technical, military education, military medicine and other fields.

The participation and continuation of the training of military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army in the courses organized at the Sachkheri Mountain Training School was positively assessed.


It was emphasized that the joint exercises, conferences and trainings held between the armies of Azerbaijan and Georgia are of a regular nature, and the importance of implementing these events both bilaterally and in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral format, as well as within the framework of NATO.


At the meeting, preparation for the joint training of special-purpose units "Caucasian Eagle-2022" to be held in October of the current year with the participation of the military of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as the "Eternity-2023" computer-supported command-staff training and the "Caucasian Eagle- 2023" joint training was discussed at a high level.

It was stated that joint military exercises create a wide range of opportunities to increase the level of mutual understanding and combat readiness between our armies, as well as to exchange experience.


The parties noted that the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of both states are mutually supported and emphasized that the strategic partnership between our countries creates favorable conditions for the further development of military cooperation and that this cooperation meets the interests of the military institutions.


During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan-Georgia military cooperation is aimed at ensuring stability and security in the region.
