Thousands of demonstrators gathered again today in the Czech capital to demand the resignation of the government because of the failure to deal with the energy crisis and the aid provided to Ukraine, reports BTA.

Although the day is a holiday, the protest, which united far-right and far-left groups, was smaller than the 70,000 people who gathered on September 3 in Prague's central Wenceslas square with the same demands.

Waving national flags, demonstrators today chanted "Resignation, resignation!"

and "Czech Republic First" in the vein of former US President Donald Trump's slogan.

Europe - on the brink of recession

They criticize the pro-Western coalition government of Conservative Prime Minister Peter Fiala for supporting sanctions against Russia and for not providing enough help to households and businesses due to high energy prices.

Some oppose Czech membership in the EU and NATO, and even in the UN and the World Health Organization.

Smaller protests were also held in several other large cities in the Czech Republic.
