The roads in Plovdiv and the district are the deadliest in Bulgaria.

This is clear from the Ministry of the Interior's statistics on accidents, injuries and deaths for the first half of 2022, published on the government's open data portal.

24 people died in accidents on the territory of the Plovdiv region for the period January 1 - June 30, 2022, the data show.

This part of Bulgaria also had the most accidents - 342, while Sofia, which took second place, had 323.

Two people died in accidents during the day

In the capital, there are also fewer people who died on the road - 15 for the first half of the year.

Plovdiv beats Sofia in the number of injured in accidents with 432 compared to 370 people.

A total of 2,845 accidents were reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the first half of this year throughout the country.

As the dead in them are 223, and the wounded 3534.

In fact, only in the first six months of this year, there were 338 more accidents compared to the same period last year.

The number of dead has increased by 23, and the number of injured by 428. Once again, Plovdiv is the champion in terms of the number of accidents - 50 more have occurred this year compared to last.

10 regions still report a decrease in road deaths in the first half of 2022. These are Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia with minus 8 each, Lovech (-7), Haskovo (-5), Silistra and Pazardzhik (-3 each ), Targovishte and Gabrovo (minus 2 for each), Montana and Stara Zagora with only one less victim each.

The biggest increase in the number of people killed on the road is reported in Blagoevgrad.
