[Reporter Ge Youhao / Kaohsiung Report] During large-scale events and Chinese New Year in Kaohsiung, the sea and land traffic will be jammed!

Kaohsiung City Councilor Cai Jinyan proposed a major internal and external revision of Cijin Transport during a questioning session at the council today. He suggested that the city government should consider the feasibility of the light rail and cross-port cable car in addition to the construction of the second port crossing tunnel, so as to improve the traffic dilemma of Cijin in an all-round way. .

Cai Jinyan pointed out that, at present, Cijin's external traffic relies on tunnels and ferries through the port. The Tourism Bureau holds events in Cijin or during the Chinese New Year, the traffic in Cijin will be blocked. He believes that "Strictly speaking, there are only 1.5 roads in Cijin. "The city government should also consider the traffic on the island, review the land for the port, and build a complete road on the east side of Cijin Island.

At present, the municipal government is considering co-constructing the Cijin Light Rail and the second port crossing tunnel to reduce the construction cost.

Cai Jinyan believes that the light rail needs to overcome the climbing section after exiting the water. Taking the existing port crossing tunnel as an example, the two ends are 3.500 meters long.

Is there enough hinterland to climb and buffer, "Do you want to level the entire seafood street?" He thinks it is not feasible in practice.

Cai Jinyan believes that the improvement of Cijin traffic should also be included in the cross-port cable car discussed in the past.

He had questioned in 2013. At that time, the city government also spent a lot of money on feasibility assessment, but then the port authority said no dead.

Cai Jinyan emphasized that when he proposed these cross-port plans, he hoped that the city government would not only have a single solution, but should conduct a comprehensive evaluation and make a major revision of the internal and external aspects of Cijin Transportation.

In this regard, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qimai said that after the extension of the life of the Cijin-Hong Kong Tunnel, the service life will be up to 2049; the second tunnel is undergoing a feasibility assessment, and there will be results in the middle of next year; as for the light rail, there are still some thresholds for the feasibility financial assessment .

When it comes to the cross-port cable car, Chen Qimai said that he originally had to go from the 85th building, but the coordination was almost done in 2004 and 2005, and then he stopped due to the progress of the feasibility assessment.

He emphasized that "at present, it seems more feasible to adopt the light rail or no light rail scheme for the second port crossing tunnel, which is the focus of the current assessment!" (referring to whether the second port crossing tunnel is co-constructed with the light rail).

Cai Jinyan still hopes to include the cable car in the assessment, and questioned whether the height of the freighter was the main reason?

Chen Qimai believes that the impact of cargo ships is not large, because large cargo ships are currently entering and leaving the second port, and the city government will discuss the feasibility of the cross-port cable car with the port company.
