Three people were injured today by an explosion at a market square in the German city of Halle, BTA reported.

The blast went off around 6:00 p.m. in the public toilets in the square, and two people were seriously injured, a police spokesman said.

A twelve-year-old and a thirteen-year-old boy were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 51-year-old woman was slightly injured.

"At the moment the cause is still clear," the police spokesman added.

An area within a radius of 100 meters around the square has been cordoned off.

Residents around the site of the explosion were evacuated from their homes.
