Russia still does not allow the

UN

mission to the places where Ukrainian prisoners of war are held by Russia.

This was stated by the head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Matilda Bogner, at the presentation on Tuesday, September 27, of the new report of the UN Human Rights Office on Ukraine for the period from February 1 to July 31, 2022, Ukrinform writes.

"During the reporting period, our human rights specialists had unhindered access to the places of internment of prisoners of war in the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine. On the other hand, we were not granted confidential access to the places of internment of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the territory controlled by the armed forces of the Russian Federation or armed groups," she emphasized.

According to her, the information received by the UN indicates that there are serious health and safety risks for Ukrainian defenders who are in Russian captivity.

"They are subjected to cruel treatment. In addition, their dignity is also humiliated. Such treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war has a systematic nature both in the occupied territories and in the places of internment in the Russian Federation," Bogner summarized.
