The Latvian government approved the proposals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to declare a state of emergency in the regions bordering the Russian border.

This was reported by Delphi with reference to the government's decision.

A state of emergency has been declared in the border areas from September 28 to December 26.

"In connection with the mobilization in the Russian Federation with the aim of intensifying military operations on the territory of Ukraine and the need to prevent possible threats to the internal security of Latvia, a state of emergency has been declared in the Aluksne, Balv and Ludzen regions," the government said.

Due to the growing pressure of illegal immigration from Belarus, the Latvian government has already declared a state of emergency in the Ludzen, Kraslav, Augšdaugiv regions and Daugavpils since August 11, 2021, and it has been repeatedly extended since then.

Currently, it has been extended until November 10.

The border crossing in Pededze is also closed, and the state border guard has been ordered to strengthen control at the Latvian-Russian border and check Russian citizens arriving in Latvia.

It will be recalled that the Russian man complained that he was fined in Estonia for wearing a St. George's ribbon and was forced to throw it away.
