Although not in all cases, Ukraine can destroy Russia's tactical

nuclear weapons

before they hit the target.

Mykhailo Samus, director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament on International Affairs, told about this on Radio NV.

"If artillery shells will be used, and there is such a possibility, then it is practically impossible (to destroy them - ed.) under our conditions.

If we talk about "Caliber" and "Iskander", which are the main carriers of tactical nuclear weapons, then, of course, it is possible to shoot them down.

The only thing is that there may be a danger of a dirty bomb, when debris from the destruction of a nuclear warhead will simply be spread over a large area," he said.

The expert also said

that Ukraine needs to destroy tactical nuclear weapons over the territory of Russia.

"For this, we need long-range anti-missile defense (missile defense) systems and long-range radar detection aircraft that will detect these launches 1,000 km away, for example, from the border," Samus explained.

It will be recalled that

the US State Department reacted to Putin's nuclear threats.
