The leak on the

Nord Stream-1

and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines was the result of underwater explosions.

This is stated in the statement of the seismologist of the Swedish National Seismic Network, Björn Lund, Reuters reports.

According to Lund, the seismic activity detected in the area of the pipeline gas leak was caused by explosions that occurred in the water, not in the rock beneath the seabed.

At the same time, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out.

"We are talking about three leaks with some distance between them, and therefore it is difficult to imagine that this is a coincidence," the head of the Danish government said.

Norwegian Oil and Energy Minister Terje Aasland also agreed that sabotage could have been the cause of the leak.

"Based on the information we have seen so far, there are many indications of acts of sabotage," he said.

According to Aasland, the Norwegian government decided on Tuesday, September 27, to increase emergency preparedness for infrastructure, land-based and offshore installations on the Norwegian continental shelf.

It will be recalled that on September 26, Denmark reported a

gas leak from the Nord Stream-2 pipeline

, which is currently not working, and the Nord Stream-1 pipeline.

The leak was recorded in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Bornholm Island.

A number of countries, including Russia, said that sabotage could be the cause of the accidents.
