Artem Kazantsev, who killed 17 people at school No. 88 in Izhevsk, was a reserved person, always wearing a hood and never saying hello, his roommates told RIA Novosti.



"I don't know him well. He always wore a black hoodie, he never said hello, he was very reserved. He lived with his family, his mother, his grandmother. Their living conditions were very good," a local resident told the Russian news agency.

. Another neighbor of the shooter said that Kazantsev wore a hood even in hot summer weather, and when he left the entrance, he always lowered his head so that his face could not be seen.



The attacker's relatives probably left with the security forces, the man added.

He explained that yesterday officers of the FSB and the Investigative Committee arrived and allegedly took them away.



The neighbor also told the agency that he knew about Kazantsev's schizophrenia diagnosis from his grandmother, so he always made allowances for the fact that he walked with a hood.



Another neighbor confirmed to RIA Novosti that Kazantsev is secretive.

"He was unsociable, but they exchanged a few words, ordinary, nothing like that. There were no parties," said another tenant in the building where Kazantsev lived. 



On Monday, at school No. 88 in Izhevsk, her former student Artem Kazantsev, born in 1988, opened fire and then committed suicide.

As the head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov told reporters, the man was registered in a psychoneurological dispensary. 

The victims of the crime are 17 people, including 11 children, dozens are injured.

Mourning has been declared in the republic.
