NASAMS anti-aircraft missile complexes will arrive in Ukraine "in the near future".

Colonel Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this.

"Our servicemen often communicate with our partners, study the equipment that will soon be put into service, the process is ongoing. NASAMS was talked about even before the war. This type of weaponry is a heavy air defense weaponry. It is not transferred just like that in 1-2 days... As for NASAMS, the process is ongoing," Ignat said.

According to him, 2 batteries will be transferred to Ukraine first.

"The battery can have up to 8 launchers, as well as a command post, a radar that will see the targets... The NASAMS battery is actually our division, it's up to 8 launchers. At first there will be 2 batteries," the Air Force spokesman explained.

Ignat added that Ukraine needs as many such air defense systems as possible, so the diplomatic level should continue to ask for these weapons.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced the receipt of NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems from the United States.

At the same time, he said that these systems are not yet sufficient to close the airspace from Russian missiles.
