Taichung City Government reported today that an employee fell to his death from the city government building. In the afternoon, the council asked a general question. City councilor Qiu Suzhen pointed out that in the past three years, Taichung City has had a total of 1,300 suicide deaths in 2019, 2020, and 2021, with an average of 433 people per year. Qiu Suzhen pointed out that according to the national suicide death statistics of the Mental Health Department of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of suicide deaths in 6 cities in the past three years is the largest in New Taipei City, followed by Kaohsiung City, and Taichung City ranks third, with an average of more than 400 people taking their own lives a year. Taichung City is known as a "livable city", but it is a great irony that every day citizens choose to end their lives by themselves. More people are out of psychological difficulties.

Lu Xiuyan said that she was very saddened by the accident of the city government employees. When the incident happened, the heads of the city government bureaus had to prepare for inquiries. She asked the deputy head to accompany the family members to the hospital for assistance. Even so, I am afraid that some people still find it difficult to get over the past. Therefore, the community must provide assistance, including a counseling mechanism.

The Taichung City Government stated that the tragedy made the city very sad and reluctant. The employee was an administrative assistant. When the bureau found that the employee was taciturn in the past, it took measures such as starting a psychological counseling and caring mechanism to appease and enlighten the city.
