Jupiter will be at its closest distance to Earth in 59 years today.

According to APA, this was reported to TASS on Monday by the press service of the Moscow Planetarium.

Jupiter, the Earth and the Sun will be in a straight line on September 26. In this case, Jupiter will be near the closest point in its orbit (perihelion) to the Sun, at a distance of 4.96 astronomical units from the celestial body.

These two events happen once every 12 years.
