The water level of Yamuna in the capital on Sunday crossed the warning mark (204.5 meters) after heavy rains in the upper catchment areas and is expected to cross it on September 26.

The Delhi Flood Control Room said the water level had reached 204.4 meters at 9 pm and is likely to rise to 204.7 meters between 10 am and 12 noon on Monday.

A flood warning is issued in Delhi when the water release rate from Hathnikund barrage in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana crosses the one lakh cusec mark.

Then people living in low-lying areas and other flood prone areas near the banks of river Yamuna are evacuated.
