Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday claimed that he has the support of party workers across the country for the election of the Congress President.

Tharoor said that he is keen to contest the elections, but everything will be clear only after the last date for submission of nomination papers on September 30.

According to the notification issued by the Congress, the process of filing nominations for the elections will run from September 24 to September 30.

The date for scrutiny of nomination papers is October 1, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 8.

If needed, the polling will be held on October 17.

The counting of votes will take place on October 19 and the result will be declared on the same day.

More than 9000 representatives of the Pradesh Congress Committee will vote in the election.
