US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington is ready to cooperate with the new Italian government once it takes office after the right-wing victory in yesterday's parliamentary elections, world agencies reported.

"After yesterday's election in Italy, we look forward to working together with the new Italian government on our common goals: supporting a free and independent Ukraine, respecting human rights and creating a sustainable economic future," Blinken tweeted.

"Italy is a vital ally, a strong democracy and a valued partner."
