Before the next Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to be held in Bucharest, Romania, from September 26 to October 14, 2022, a ministerial round table on "Building a better digital future for everyone" was held on September 25.

According to the information given to "APA-Economics" by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, representatives of about 40 countries, including Azerbaijan, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, participated in the event.


The Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev spoke at the round table.

In his speech, Rashad Nabiyev spoke about the importance of eliminating digital inequality, providing everyone with access to digital services, and creating equal opportunities for learning and development.


The minister emphasized that 2 factors play a role in this matter - affordability and efficiency.

It was reported that in order to develop the relevant infrastructure for digital transformation in remote areas of the country, fertile conditions have been created for public-private partnership: "Thanks to the project implemented in stages, full coverage of at least 25 Mb/s high-speed broadband internet will be achieved in the country by 2024 ".


It was pointed out that the development of an effective mobile internet network was also emphasized in order to provide a safer environment for digital transformation in the country and to increase the accessibility of the internet.
