[Central News Agency] British Prime Minister Truss said in an interview broadcast by CNN today that Britain is determined to work with its allies to ensure that Taiwan can defend itself.

Reuters reported that Liz Truss said in an interview that Britain's allies must cooperate on their positions on China and Russia.

Asked by the host whether Britain would defend Taiwan militarily in the event of a Chinese invasion, as the United States said, she replied: "We are determined to work with our allies to ensure that Taiwan can defend itself."

Truss, who only took office earlier this month, has taken a tough stance on both China and Russia.

"I do believe we have a special relationship, and it's more important as we face the threat from Russia and the increasingly assertive stance of China," she said of the relationship with the United States.
