Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military expert, explained the specifics of the counteroffensive in the Kherson region.

He told about this in an interview with

TSN.ua.

"Ukraine is a large country. We have a rather diverse landscape. It has a very serious impact on our capabilities for counteroffensive actions. Although the Armed Forces continue to advance on the right-bank part of the Kherson region and today in some directions create quite dangerous and interesting situations specifically for the Russian occupation units. Therefore as always, they have a choice: they flee or stay and replenish our exchange fund," Kovalenko noted.

We will remind you that on September 23, Russia started the so-called "referendums" on joining the Russian Federation in the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

A "show of will" was scheduled for September 23-27.

The President of the Russian Federation,

Vladimir Putin

, said that he supports the holding of pseudo-referendums, and that the residents of the occupied territories allegedly themselves "expressed a desire to determine their own lives."
